The last time I published was in May. There are many excuses. But here I am, anyway, with good news!
There will be another little one added to our family in mid-January! We got to see our tiny baby just last week via ultrasound, and six weeks earlier saw his or her strong, beating heart. What a blessing and an answer to our prayers. God is good to us!
The baby will be about 25 months younger than Joshua, which I think sounds just about perfect. They'll get to grow up together, play together, and have each other to lean on as they go through life.
I'm praying for strength, peace, and grace to be a good mommy to the two little blessings that we've been given!
I do think I could now do a list of the little things, don't you?
1. Our tiny baby with wiggly hands and feet, and a strong heartbeat
2. My Joshua giving me kisses and picking flowers for me when we're outside
3. Having the opportunity this past June to teach at summer music school again
4. Being able to be there for a friend as she adjusts to her newest little one
5. Sharing maternity clothes with friends
6. Already being past the nausea and food aversions, and feeling more energetic
7. The blessing of peace in place of my fear for this pregnancy
8. The conversations Brad and I have already had about possible names for our littlest
9. Quiet evenings and nights of unbroken sleep, thanks to a certain newly sleeping-through-the-night toddler
10. Being blessed in so many ways because God is good. He is holy, sovereign, and in control. That he has his glory and his purpose in mind, even in the most difficult of times. That he hears our hearts' cries and holds us in every moment.
I may someday share about the depth of pain and struggle that we've been through, but for now, it's enough to know that God is faithful, that he is present, and that we are held in his hands no matter the circumstance.
I am so thankful!

personality, much?
This big cheese is already eight months old.
Has sooo much personality.

Walking with help.
Cruising.
Making his pleasure or displeasure known. Loudly.
Scooting on his belly - so fast!
Has two teeth on the bottom.
Says "kitty," "hi," and "dada."
Loves peas, pears, nectarines, and sweet potatoes. Oatmeal, not so much.
Enjoys bath time and splashing in the pool.
Hates nap time and bed time.
Loves meeting new people and smiling as we walk around town.What a blessing you are, Joshua! I'm so thankful to be your mommy.

the first tooth!
Baby Joshua got his first tooth just last week, and he's working on tooth #2! It's the little things...
loving my little baby boy :) So thankful that I get to stay home with him and be there for each milestone.

Joshua by the week
I've been taking pictures of my sweet Joshua baby each week, but haven't been able to post them... See, my laptop's power cord died, and left me with just a bit of battery power, and then... nothing. So now I'm back with a new power cord, all my files, and lots of pictures to share! Yay! Here are the first ten weeks, with one (so hard to decide on just one!) picture per week.
At one week old, Joshua Garron was a lot sleepy, had a head full of soft, light brown hair, and deep blue eyes. His precious little hands and feet were sooo tiny! He was a little bit jaundiced, and we visited the pediatrician three times in one week to watch his growth. We counted each ounce gained as a little victory! We have been so thankful for our little miracle, and for my mom's help as we adjust to this new little life. Joshua's first cousin was born at the end of this week: Tucker Cross, the adorable son of Brad's sister.
Two weeks came so quickly! I fought off an infection and was just starting to feel better, when Brad got the 24-hour flu. He was vomiting every hour for most of the day - such a difficult day! We were so thankful for meals and medicine from our friends, and for Brad's parents coming to help us deal with all the mess and germs. Baby Joshua was happy and healthy, though! He cracks us up with his cute expressions, and he continues to gain weight each day. We went to Buffalo and to Sugar Grove and got to celebrate Christmas as Joshua met so many of his loving relatives.
My tiny baby at three weeks: he still had wrinkly skin on his elbows and knees, just waiting to be plumped up! He began to stretch out his arms and legs, and is so very wiggly. Newborn clothes still seem so big on him! Joshua began to sleep for two or three hour periods at night, but not consistently. Mommy is so tired, but happy.
At four weeks, we began to see a few smiles! Joshua finally made it back up to his birth weight, and we were so excited for him. It's so fun to begin to see more personality from my sweet baby boy.
Joshie is starting to lose his newborn hair! He's still so wrinkly, but is starting to get a bigger belly. We're still so amazed that this precious boy is ours! Joshua also got a special gift on his one month birthday: another new cousin!
Six weeks was the first time that Mommy could put her wedding rings back on - hooray! Joshua is beginning to outgrow newborn outfits in length, but not in width! We're putting more pants and onesie combinations on him, and beginning to pack away the footed outfits.
Joshua loves to "talk" to us! We sing and coo to him all day, and his grandparents are loving the videos we send them of our morning conversations. He's starting to love looking at objects hanging overhead and enjoys his mobile and snugabunny seat for those reasons!
My wiggly baby seems to never stop moving! We swaddle him at nighttime, but he somehow works his arms out of the blanket...little Houdini!
Joshua rolled over from tummy to back for the first time at the end of his tenth week - big boy! He's smiling and cooing more than ever, and we love his little personality. He's also all the way up to 9lbs, 14oz, making Mommy proud!

it's so weird...
...that I'm 25, married, going to grad school, the owner of two kitties, furniture, dishes, appliances...and I feel like I'm not fully an adult yet. When does that set in? I have responsibilities galore - caring for my wonderful husband, paying bills, work, pets,teaching. Do we ever start feeling like adults? I have to keep telling myself, "you're an adult; you have to ____," but it doesn't feel real. i've been pretty good at doing the things that I have to - it's just how I'm wired. But how do you balance work and relaxation? I have trouble with this. DH helps me to slow down, which is good!
on another note, tomorrow is my second wedding anniversary! DH and I are going to go get a couples' massage, spend some time looking at photos, planning and dreaming, and then we'll go out to dinner somewhere. celebrating a good start to our lifetime together, and looking forward to the rest of it!
